The documentary is named 4000 because Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins.

‘Bad Blood’ is an Experimental ‘performative documentary’ about director Jake Geiger’s struggle with a blood anomaly called TTP. The story starts with Jake developing a cyst, which leads to the doctors finding that there’s a problem with his blood. At first they think it’s AIDS and then they figure out that it’s TTP (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura). The film’s purpose is to get the audience to experience what it’s like to go through TTP and understand how the director felt while incarcerated for 15 days with nothing to do but contemplate his own mortality. Harsh realism is juxtaposed with a hypersensitive world of poetry in order to both feel the cold actuality of the situation while still experiencing the perspective of the mental state of the director.
